I went to ilkely moor cow and calf rock because i heard that Calf was split from the Cow when the giant Rombald was fleeing an enemy, and stamped on the rock as he leapt across the valley. The enemy, it is rumoured, was his angry wife. She dropped the stones held in her skirt to form the local rock formation The Skirtful of Stones. This place captured my eyes because of the local legends. So i spent my evening there , it was fantastic .

It was nothing but grey skies and rain for days on end, but I decided that you don't always need epic sunsets for great photos. The dull weather also allowed me to get a 20 second exposure with an ND1000 filter giving that classic wispy water look. A wide angle lens allowed me to get nice and close and emphasize the subject, being that close also meant there was some close calls with the occasional freak wave coming up to where I had my tripod and me running back up the beach to escape them

As if Mother Nature decided that the colours were not enough and returned with these extraordinary after colours!I was a bit wavering that afternoon looking at those thick clouds building up but then a gap in those clouds made for a colour burst producing a sunset that has by far been one of the best in this year I have seen!
